This week saw Truly Independent host our 6th Affinity Meeting. Hosted 2 or 3 times a year these events allow us to get all of our Independent Financial Advisers and Head Office Staff together for the day. It also provides an opportunity to deliver important updates on the business progress, deliver some training and have guest presenters; which means added value for advisers to gain CPD points when they attend.

The event took place in the Preston Marriot Hotel and the morning started off with welcome coffees and pastries to give everyone some time to catch up and get to know each other.

Managing Director, Andrew Goodwin, began with a brief presentation about the business and a few celebratory toasts to our latest achievements including the new office move, hitting a £4m annual turnover, and an Amazon #1 book.

Either side of lunch was a CPD presentation. The first from Premier Asset Management on ‘How attack could be the best form of defence for long-term growths’ which looked at understanding the long-term risk to capital accumulation by focusing too much on short term volatility. The second from Retirement Advantage titled ‘A Comfortable Retirement… I wasn’t expecting that’ looked at the impact on changes to the State Pension, lifetime allowance post retirement and how DB transfers fit in.

The remainder of the afternoon saw an update on our Marketing development and the newly launched Digital Marketing Packages as well as a Compliance/Operations update too. After some coffee and cakes there was some training covered by Compliance Officer, Stuart Ridley, who looked at the True Potential outcome based fact finding process.

The presentation was concluded by Andrew Goodwin who drew the raffle and presented the winner with a lovely bottle of Taittinger Champagne. The £150 raised from the raffle will be donated to charity.

Afterwards there were plenty of drinks flowing and a sit down 3 course meal in the evening for everyone to enjoy.
